Statement by Dr. Stephen Greene Howard, Senior Minister of Cornerstone Baptist Church
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of a saint. “ Psalm 116:15
Cornerstone, death has once more invaded are realm and has summoned the soul of former Pastor Rev. Sidney A. Locks, Jr. to our maker.
Pastor Sidney A. Locks, Jr. pastored Cornerstone from December 1,1989 to May 2012. Under his leadership, the church advanced in several areas. Those 21 years were years of great victory. To God be the glory for the Labor, lessons and legacy of this great servant of God.
The Cornerstone family mourns with Sis. Carol Locks, the children, grandchildren, the family, the community yea the world with the assurance of the hope we have in Christ.
Due to the global pandemic, we are saddened that we can’t celebrate his life in the form and fashion we are accustomed to but will observe thirty days of Mourning which begin June 1, 2020; the pulpit and pastoral chair drips in black; the offering of prayers for the coping of this irrepairable loss and a memorial service with with the family permission at a later date.

Cornerstone, Sidney God’s servant is gone, let us arise and cross the Jordan of racism, classism, inequalities and injustice. As God was with Pastor Locks, so shall God be with us.
“Servant of God, well done! Rest from thy love employ! The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy Master’s joy.” - James Montgomery
